Awesome KalemSoft Media Player Streams Video & Pictures from Your PC or DLNA Server (BB10 & PlayBook)

Jared let me know about this awesome media player for BlackBerry 10 and the BlackBerry PlayBook. The KalemSoft Media Player stands out as the only BlackBerry 10 and PlayBook app (That I know of) that can stream video from UPnP/DLNA enabled devices along with simply video files on your remote PC. They also allow you to stream live video from your remote windows PC from your Webcam or TV Card.

KalemSoft Media Player has so far been tested and streams from Twonky, Windows Media Player, MediaTomb, ReadyNAS, Tversity, Serviio, and more. They also have their own free KalemSoft Media Streamer that can be installed on a remote PC to stream.

The features are impressive including:

  • Can stream many different content types (non-copy protected media only)
  • Can locally play many different content types (non-copy protected media only)
  • DLNA capable, can stream from DLNA servers
  • Beautiful audio visualizations (supported on BB10 only) with support for external milkdrop presets
  • Streams from webcams, TV cards or any Direcshow compatible capture devices
  • Supports embedded SSA/text/DVB and external SRT subtitles with multiple language encodings
  • Can record streams from KalemSoft Media Streamer locally on the device
  • Full screen video playback
  • Can shuffle and play music and videos back to back
  • Resume feature
  • Album art support with id3v2 tags
  • Favorites list and custom playlist support

  1. Unfortunately not available for Z30.

  2. Unisen iPazzPort Cast is a mini engine to turn your Home HD Screen become a All Media Sharing Center with full screen by Smart phone or table.

  3. I have a license for the Z10, but have never seen the app being available on the Z30. Even wrote to the developer but they haven’t bothered to respond. It’s been a couple of months since I got my Z30 but no luck as yet.
