BlackBerry Reminding Enterprises to Make BES 10 Licenses Permenant By Activating a Device

Reminder

One of the interesting things Blackberry did awhile back was putting a curious limitation on their tradeup program. This program let enterprises upgrade their BES 5.0 CAL (Client Access License) to BES 10 CAL licenses but had a BIG catch. BlackBerry is only handing out TEMPORARY licenses this year. These licenses will only become permanent if you activate a BlackBerry 10 device with that license before December 31st, 2013.

I was curious to see if BlackBerry was going to relax the requirement but now they are sending out emails reminding those people who upgraded to a temporary license to make sure and activate a device. BlackBerry will review the activated devices and issue licenses at the beginning of the year.

If you are part of the program read the details here.

  1. Humm, interesting. I put my faith in the new CEO. I think he has a plan to grow BES10 into a monster while still pushing forward into the consumer space.
This asking of people to activate a BB10 device sounds like a good idea IMO. We’ll see how it plays out.
