Latest BlackBerry Management Shakeup is Just the Beginning According to G&M Source

The new CEO John Chen made some quick work of cleaning up the C-Suite this week at BlackBerry. Now the Globe and Mail is reporting that “This is just the beginning; there will be more management changes” according to a “source familiar with the matter.” According to them Chen is evaluating the management ranks and “It’s important to send a message to the broader staff in Waterloo that he’s serious about changing the culture.” In other words it seems like Chen realized he needs to rebuild BlackBerry with a focused management team.

On a side note the Globe & Mail is also confirming that Boulben and Tear were responsible for pushing for all touchscreen BlackBerrys. They supposedly told the board last year that they believed the market for QWERTY keyboard phones was dead…

  2. The Q10 was supposed to sell by the millions, but that never happened. I don’t think Qwerty is dead but it will have a small niche market – the messaging business person. The rich multimedia environment today demands a much larger screen. In response to that, we’re seeing huge demands for 5+ inch displays on phones, some even going to 6.3 inches!
