Porsche Design P’9982 New York Launch Party

The Porsche Design P’9982 launched in my hometown last night with a great party. There were loads of celebrities along with Porsche Design CEO Juergen Gessler and BlackBerry CMO Frank Boulben. We got you some great stats from that night including this awesome shot above of Adam @CrackBerry taking a picture with his Z30. :)  (Adam caught some good shots too)

Adam was one of the many celebrities at the Porsche Design Soho Boutique. They had a window art installation by New York based artist Baron von Fancy. Music by The Misshapes set the mood while guests were the first to view the new phone and toast the launch with a P’9982 cocktail (Vodka, freshly squeezed lime juice, sage, simple syrup and floating sage leaf). The event screened photographs by New York photographer Aaron Stern taken with his P’9982 and a short film by Downtown darling Va$tie showcasing her life with a P’9982, filmed in HD with the new smartphone. Contemporary culture editor Jeff Carvalho was present at the event displaying how he uses the P’9982 in his work.

Porsche Design CEO Juergen Gessler greeted the crowd together with the CMO of BlackBerry Frank Boulben with a welcome speech and an introductory video on the new smartphone. The evening then lead into a performance by Brooklyn based band Chairlift followed by more dancing to The Misshapes. Also there were The Misshapes – Leigh Lezark + Geordon Nicol, Chairlift – Caroline Polachek + Patrick Wimberly, Claire Distenfeld, Leandra Medine, Va$tie, Aaron Stern, Baron von Fancy, Corey Kennedy, Chiara Clemente, Nicole Vitagliano, Michael Avedon, Audrey Gelman, Lisa Airan, Porsche Design CEO Juergen Gessler and BlackBerry CMO Frank Boulben.

  1. Shhhh.. Don’t mention “Blackberry” anywhere, not at the doors, not in any banners, even when you are taking pictures of the device, try not to focus on “Blackberry” so people will think it is a brand new device from a fancy car maker, maybe then people will pay attention because we ruined the Blackberry name, now when they hear blackberry they still imagine monochrome display, scroll wheel on one side, old design, boring device for business people.
    – whoever it is that arranged this event

Honestly, whole thing is a sham, BB spending money on few nobodies to show up at a launch party nobody heard about until after it happened, while their 2 month old device barely made it to USA on a carrier who is known to focus on selling Droid line of devices, did not even put a single commercial on prime time TV to sell Z30, on top of all while not even selling it unlocked to general public.

BBRY needs to get their whip and start cracking:

  2. Has Frank Boulben not resigned yet? Unbelievable!
