The BlackBery Z30 Carbonite Pouch

Earlier last week, the photo’s of the BlackBerry carbonite pouch, which is under beta testing, went up online. The case is a rather hard solid case, unlike the softer similar leather pouch available in retail outlets. Whilst putting it up for beta review is pretty interesting and new, let us take a closer look into it.

Some of you may have been registered into the program successfully whilst some of us may not have, but for those whom did, BlackBerry is sure to be working hard to send out all of these cases to the testers.

Now, the pouch does not come in any retail packing, just a clear plastic holder. Taking it out, the very first impression is its sturdy built. The front of the case has slightly rubberized with pattern cut into it, very similar to that of the BlackBerry Z10 battery door.

The back of it, feels like a normal plastic back, without any of the additional grip that the front offers.

  1. I know it looks nice, but stay away from pouch cases. I had my phone slide right out and hit the pavement.

  2. Mine just arrived yesterday. Wrapped in plastic (/w silica gel), inside a FedEx envelope, inside a FedEx box. Nothing else, not even paperwork, in the box.

Its certainly an interesting design. The phone slides in about 3/4 of the way, then it sort-of “snaps” down the rest. Once inside, its quite secure and won’t be falling out on its own.

I’m actually more concerned with it shooting off (or something accidentally getting pressed) with the force required to pull it out of the case deliberately.

Still personally more a fan of the belt-holster cases, since I usually have other things in my pockets, but it’ll still be interesting to try.
