Study Shows BBM Cross Platform Is Gaining in User Engagement Time

Mobidia did an independent study of engagement metrics for users on BBM cross platform. From what I understand this engagement data is from Android users and is way ahead of what competitors are seeing. They found that in the week of October 20th BBM’s engagement time was 40 minutes in the United States. This is ahead of Tango’s 24 minutes and close to Viber’s 44 minutes though Kik is ahead with 106 minutes. Sadly no word on WhatsApp.

Also of interest is that BBM seems to be doing better in European markets with 59 minutes vs LINE’s 38 minutes. In Europe, WhatsApp has an engagement time of 160 minutes trouncing them all. Either way its nice to see that BBM users are downloading the app for more than just checking out what the fuss is. via BGR

  1. The only way to success it maintaining the momentum, if people trust BBM and deem it reliable enough, the platform will succeed and everybody will know it.

  2. Back-end stability is key. If the service is intermittent, slow, and deemed unreliable, folks will go elsewhere and probably won’t come back. Users are finicky and once they have their contact lists established, they won’t want to move yet again. BBM has one chance to make this work and they can’t screw it up.
