German Chancellor Angela Merkel is the New Face of BlackBerry 10 Security?

German-Chancellor-Angela-Merkel Z10

BlackBerry has had a huge boost over the years by being the phone of choice for secure conversations in the US government and even by the president. Now with all of the latest NSA leaks we have countries in Europe shocked that the US has been spying on everyone. While I would be shocked if they were not trying to do the same thing I found an interesting new angle in the whole debacle. German Chancellor Angela Merkel has been having some serious talks with President Obama (via about tapping her phone and she is regularly spotted with her new BlackBerry Z10. This Z10 is outfitted with Secusite encryption to ensure she cannot have her phone tapped.

It sort of makes me wonder if BlackBerry has an even stronger play in the government security market due to these leaks. What do you think?

  1. Sorry Alicia, you have been replaced.

  2. % of population requiring BB grade reliability, security, privacy, health and safety varies by nation. Highest % may be Germany, Bangladesh, lowest and in America professionals like lawyers, doctors, accountants, bankers, financial advisors and so forth are legally required to have BB grade reliability, security, privacy etc. Failing which they may be professionally liable.

However Scotiabank CEO indicates that the fabric of commerce requires reliabilty, security privacy, etc. Much more so Detroits upcoming mobile-car-commerce convergence. So everybody needs it.

Patchwork OS were ok last century but not for Internet of Things. Googles tech and business plans may be predicated upon apparently illegal practices (for courts to adjudicate).

  3. Edward Snowden should get the the top medal of honor from The German government.
The USA is not a friend I would be proud of.

  4. This would be great for future advertisements: Blackberry not only does it keep you entertained, but keeps your info safe too.
PS: Cool it on the spying NSA.

  5. Governments are already familiar with what BlackBerry can do.

They need to let “normal” users know that it’s harder to snoop in if they use a BlackBerry, but they would have to have some pretty solid proof, because governments are not using the phones as is…

  6. BlackBerry should offer security device service to regular individuals consumers for a monthly fee.

  7. German Minister of Justice was summoned to the ministry, representatives of U.S. companies in Germany Google and Microsoft about the electronic surveillance conducted internet for years by the U.S. Agency NSA.
    BlackBerry is not concerned…

The documents identified several technology companies as participants in the PRISM program, including Microsoft in 2007, Yahoo! in 2008, Google in 2009, Facebook in 2009, Paltalk in 2009, YouTube in 2010, AOL in 2011, Skype in 2011 and Apple in 2012.[33]

  8. Wow, she is a gorgeous woman. Lovely smile. I wonder if she did that on purpose.
