WSJ Claims Lenovo Actively Considering Bid for All of BlackBerry

Twitter _ Benzinga

Lenovo is once again in the news for a potential acquisition of BlackBerry. This time the DOW Jones reported that Lenovo signed an NDA and now the WSJ has it from “people familiar with the matter” that Lenovo is considering a bid for the whole company. Lenovo gave the following statement when asked about it that is nice and noncommital:

"We do not intend to disclose further developments with respect to the process until we approve a specific transaction or otherwise conclude the review of strategic alternatives."

This would be an interesting wrinkle for BlackBerry because the Canadian government and all of their government contractors would think twice if Lenovo was the buyer. The Canadian government would possibly also step in to stop such a deal based on increased security risk. In other words it should be interesting to see how this unfolds.
