We are hearing from readers who have spotted BlackBerry’s Open Letter to their fans and customers around the world. Above is one from South Africa which was a huge full spread. I also noticed that on BlackBerry’s blog they gave a bit more context to the open letter that I really wish they would have offered from the beginning. Check it out below:

Today, BlackBerry published an open letter in major publications around the world to set the record straight for the tens of millions of users who depend on BlackBerry every single day.

In particular, we wanted to let our enterprise customers know that we are confident in the future of our technology. We acknowledge that we are going through a difficult period, but we are restructuring and refocusing our team and our resources so we can deliver what you’ve always depended on from BlackBerry. The fact is that we still believe in our platform and technology, and you should too.

Our BlackBerry 10 platform and portfolio of enterprise products and services deliver best in class security and enterprise mobility management. We continue to deliver innovative, enterprise-class smartphones that enable improved collaboration, connection and accomplishment. And BBM is a growing private social network that we are expanding beyond the immediate BlackBerry ecosystem to Android and iPhone users to deliver greater value.

    Despite recent headwinds, we continue to celebrate business successes:

  • The release of Secure Work Space for iOS and Android
  • Significant momentum with enterprise adoption of BlackBerry Enterprise Service 10 (BES 10)
  • A preview of a new cloud-based EMM solution that will give businesses greater ease, flexibility and cost efficiency in managing users and apps in a BYOD environment

    It was nice to see their open letter online, which barely had any reception on media outlets or facebook, twitter, but they need to push this more in USA, unless they are getting ready to throw the towel in USA? Or maybe they are aware that nobody is reading newspapers anymore? There are bunch of free newspapers in New York, Chicago, Boston, Houston that major publications distribute on subway, bus and train terminals, etc. A full page ad on that would really grab attention of a lot of people. In NY, stuff like Metro, AM New York, Village Voice (is VV still around!?) would make a big difference.
