Evolution Web Browser Brings Ad Blocking, Gestures, User Agent Switching & More to BlackBerry 10

 MaxBrowser MaxBrowser2

A few readers let us know about the launch of the Evolution Web Browser with Ad Blocker over the weekend. The new native app is an awesome upgrade over the native browser with things like a built in Ad Blocker and pre-fetching Lightning mode. You can also use gestures and change your user agent to fool websites into thinking you are another device. Best of all it includes AutoFill for forms and video support in OS 10.1+.

Here are the features:

  • Ad blocking (option)
  • Lightning mode (speeds up loading times) (option)
  • Tabbed browsing
  • Hide address bar when scrolling (option)
  • Gestures (option)
  • Scroll with volume keys, short press for page, long press for top/bottom (option)
  • History
  • Bookmarks
  • Reader mode which makes pages easier to read
  • Page transitions (option)
  • Change user agent
  • Disable Javascript
  • Backup/Restore settings
  • Multiple tabs
  • Restore tabs on start up from previous session
  • Share (share page via BBM, Twitter, Facebook etc)
  • System integrated, when long pressing on a url in email, BBM etc Evo Browser will show as an option to open in
  • Find on page (search for text on page)
  • Address bar doubles as Google search bar
  • Auto-fill forms (OS 10.1)
  • Video support (OS 10.1)

  1. Now THAT’S a browser!

  2. Eh. Like being able to scroll with volume buttons. But the rendering when pinching to zoom is terrible

  3. It’s a pretty decent start :)
I doubt it will fully replace my Firefox sideload which works really well on 4.2.2, but it should meet the needs of most people who felt the stock browser came short in the feature department.

  4. No flash support
