BlackBerry Confirms That Silent Camera Shutter Is Coming in OS 10.2

I have no idea why this has taken BlackBerry so long but they finally seem to be listening to customers. For years BlackBerry has been smugly telling users that they cannot silence the shutter sound on their phones due to some ambiguous legal reason even in locations where it is totally legal. BlackBerry even pulled such apps from BlackBerry World before allowing them once again.

Now Michael Clewley, product manager at BlackBerry, has confirmed on his BBM Channel that there is hope at the end of the tunnel. You will now be able to take pictures at weddings without everybody looking at you weirdly with OS 10.2. BlackBerry is allowing your phone profile to control the shutter sound so you can turn off the sound.

  1. That is great news, nothing like being in a quiet audience and wanting to take a picture and you have everyone around you turn around at the noise. Good job

  2. Yeah, It seems to be really good but just waiting for the roll out.
