Reminder: Google Reader Is Dying On July 1st… Migrate Now

I just wanted to remind all of you that Google is making the monumentally stupid and annoying decision to abandon all of their Google Reader users on Monday July 1st. Thankfully quite a few other companies have stepped up to try and take the RSS reading space that Google currently dominates. So far it seems like Feedly is taking the lead due to them cloning the Google Reader API and making it easy for apps to accommodate. My favorite gNewsReader app already supports Feedly and has been working like a charm. They also plan on supporting the freemium NewsBlur service soon.

So if you are a Google Reader user I highly recommend that you migrate your data to either Feedly or NewsBlur soon. There are other alternatives but none of them seem to have a solid client on BlackBerry 10. You will want to do the migration before Google guts Reader at the end of the month making it harder to migrate.

  1. Just got notification that Feedly updated their forum section where users requested a native BB10 app.

Alas, it is simply notifying us that you can access Feedly via gNewsReader. Was hoping they would put the work in for an app of their own. Oh well.

  2. yeah that is a real shame
