BlackBerry Releases Free BlackBerry 10 Wireframe Prototypes With New OS 10.2 UI Guidelines

BlackBerry Wireframes

BlackBerry has long been pushing their UI Guidelines for BlackBerry 10 to add consistency for third party applications. They have just updated the guidelines for BlackBerry 10.2 and includes some nice additions. Thankfully they have added Earconography which explains how to design sounds for BlackBerry 10 by giving you a sample from the default BlackBerry 10 sounds. Personally I wish BlackBerry would include more differentiating sounds in BlackBerry 10 since notifications can be confusing.

My favorite new addition is BlackBerry adding Wireframe Prototypes for developers to mock up BlackBerry 10 UI designs. This helps you easily create templates for customers before coding anything. Last but not least they have added more documentation on dialog boxes and toasts for BlackBerry 10.

  1. Wireframe Prototyping is great ….
    normaly ;-)

from my POV I’m faster to prototype using Cascades itself :)

  2. WireFrames are great for Designers and I also would like to have them not only as PPT but also Keynote, Balsamiq templates and OmniGraffle pencils.

I know that coding MockUps isn’t the way to go for everyone ;-)

…perhaps also worth to write an article about this “HowTo mockup Cascades APPs using Cascades itself” ?

  3. If you are looking for Keynote or PPT templates for wireframing and prototyping BlackBerry 10 templates check out: http://www.blackberry10templates.com

They are very detailed and covered most normal controls plus most system icons.
