Taiwanese Manufacturers Reporting Large Increase of BlackBerry Orders With Launch of Q10 & More Models (A10? Z5?)

Digitimes is usually spot on when it comes to what is going on at Taiwanese manufacturers. Their latest report has suppliers stating that “order visibility has risen to 2-3 quarters from a prior 1 quarter” and state that is because of “plans to release 3-4 new models in the second half of 2013.” One of those models is clearly the Q5 but there is also the A10 and what I am calling the Z5 in the pipeline. They are also confirming that BlackBerry is maintaining a shipment of 1 million units of Q10 and Z10 devices as they are ramping up. Good news for BlackBerry all around.

  1. Perhaps you can clarify. I have seen this quoted a few times but the wording seems to allow for this to mean a total of 2M BB10 phones per month (1M Z10 and 1M Q10), or 1M total BB10 phones per month.

Hopefully it isn’t the latter because that seems a bit weak.

  2. Good news indeed :)
I’m worried about the Z5 though if they decide to price it as badly as the Q5 :S

    • I don’t think they’ll price it higher than the Z10 is currently selling at. The Z10 is less than $99 with 2 year contract, and Costco is at $49 with 2 year contract.
