BlackBerry OS 10.2 Shows Upcoming BlackBerry World Features

BlackBerry World 10.2 BlackBerry World 10.23

With BlackBerry releasing the new BlackBerry OS 10.2 SDK for developers we are seeing some new features and improvements leaking out. The latest was spotted by N4BB which noticed some nice updates to BlackBerry World. Here are some of the highlights:

  • You can pin apps to bookmark them and come back later
  • You can view recently viewed apps and pinned apps
  • Nicer drop down selection menus
  • Allows you to delete specific items from your search history (sadly it will not allow you to edit a search history item)

I truly am just waiting for coupon codes which showed up with the Dev Alpha C but have yet to roll out. Hopefully it comes soon so we can get some giveaways going!

  1. I hope the pinning feature extends to active tiles.

    • I’ve thought about that one quite a bit. Not sure if I like the idea of pinning active frames. If you pin an active frame, then the most recent app will now have to appear in an unpredictable place – it could appear on page 2 (the next four running apps). That presents a problem when you have to go searching for the most recent app.

Instead I think BB has to provide a feature similar to BBOS7 where you can have active icons showing weather or battery status or data rate or whatever you wish.

  2. Cool additions.
We still don’t have the ability to flip through zoomed in images. It’s annoying.
