BlackBerrys current managing director in the UK and Ireland, Rob Orr, decided to resign this month. The UK is a key market for BlackBerry and Orr did a great job of launching both the Q10 and Z10 there before any other country. Those launches really set the tone for the whole global launch so it was a critical position for BlackBerry. On the other hand Thorsten Heins has been talking about changing up the global management structure so this could just be one of those changes.
Either way this is what BlackBerry had to say:
“Rob Orr has resigned as managing director of BlackBerry UK and Ireland with immediate effect. We thank Rob for his contributions and wish him well for the future.”
Hopefully BlackBerry finds someone equal to the task to replace him.
