BBM is Coming To iOs and Android, Spread the Word and Show Your Pride!

We heard about the BBM Channels at BlackBerry Live and the excitement was visible. Then we learned that BlackBerry was bringing BBM to the iOs and Android platform and there were mixed feelings, but exciting nonetheless. Being able to keep in touch with those who have passed on to other platforms and not have to use a third party messaging app made me very at ease, although I was surprised that the one thing besides the Qwerty keyboard is  the BBM and now we would share it with others was now reality It’s also a bold and very confident move on BlackBerry’s behalf. It’s not that I don’t like the idea, I just wasn’t ready to share. I love BBM and how we in the BlackBerry community communicate with it.

  1. I actually want this to happen badly now. And wonder if they will add WP8 support to the list…

I have a good amount of friends that are on iOS/WP/Android and don’t really care for whatsapp (which I hate, personally).

Can’t wait to have them on BBM!

  2. I have two problems with the avatars…
#1 They’re ugly. The spacing they use with that font just doesn’t work for acronyms.
#2 Most apple fanbois known about iPhone, not iOS.

  3. Not sure how much one accomplishes by making this their BBM Avatar. Kind of preaching to the choir. But I will be making this my WhatsApp avatar. Used to have a Family Group on BBM and now it’s all on WhatsApp. Hopefully I can bring them back.

  4. Unfortunately, WhatsApp doesn’t support the animated GIF so this “treat” has become that much less useful.

  5. I personally think they have made a very late decision to move towards ios and android both and because of this blackberry has lost market share, I hope Blackberry 10 doesn’t disappoint us, for more on android buzz click and visit here: http://www.appnotech.com/android-apps/

    • BlackBerry really could not do this any sooner for a number of reasons. Now they can. They have very strong devices out there that well-built, robust, with unique differentiating advantages. Anyone who spends one or two full days with a BB10 device will agree that it does not disappoint.

There is zero lag, even with the dual core 1.5 GHz processor. To get the same relative performance, Android has to have a quad core 1.7 GHz processor. Everything on the Z10 is smooth and superfast. Apps were the only question at launch, but momentum has been building, and as of early May, they had 120,000+ BB10 apps in BlackBerry World.

    • BBM has a lot going for it that most others don’t. Voice, Video, and Screen Share are only three of the enhanced features of BBM. BlackBerry users have always enjoyed Send, Received, Read notifications on messages, BBM multichats, BBM Groups with multi-purpose lists, calendars, and photo share with comments. BBM is more than a chat tool, you can customize your very own social network!

  6. Yeah, it sounds quite good and I think blackberry has a separate user base so this initiative will really work for him.
Good Luck BBM in iOs and Android platform. cheers !
