Viber Releases PC & Mac Desktop VoIP Calling With BlackBerry 10 Still Coming

Viber Desktop

Viber recently released their VoIP calling app for legacy BlackBerry devices allowing voice calling and they have promised a follow up for BlackBerry 10. Now they have extended their network further with the launch of desktop versions of their app for Windows and Mac PC’s. Currently that allows for Desktop to Desktop video calls but more in coming. It also still uses your phone number as your ID. Features include:

  • Seamlessly transfer calls between Viber Desktop and the Viber app with one click or tap
  • Received and Sent messages are shown on all devices, but will only “beep” on the device you are currently using
  • Messages and conversations you delete from one device will be removed from all devices

Check out the details over at www.viber.com and hopefully they hit the gas on that Viber BlackBerry 10 client.

  1. Why do I feel like it’s coming with the q10 US launch??

  2. Hi,
This is an official representative from Viber. :)
We are thrilled about our new releases, and we hope that our users and fans out there will make the most out of them!

As usual, we’re here to address our users’ questions and doubts directly. If you need assistance, please don’t hesitate to let us know :)

    Best regards,
    the Viber Team.

    • Can you please let me know when Viber will be available for Balckberry Z 10

      • Our BB10 app is currently in advanced levels of development and testing. We’re working as fast as we can, and we hope to bring you news soon. Note that the wait for our BB10 app will not be nearly as long as the wait for the update for the current version had been.

        • Do you have any news about the release??

          • At the moment, it is likely that our release of Viber for BB10 will go hand-in-hand with the release of BB OS 10.2 (due to technological improvements/fixes that Viber is “waiting” for). When we have more solid news, we’ll share.

  3. Will Viber even be relevent for Blackberry 10 with the upcoming release of BBM to iOS and Android? I know it will only be text based to be begin with, but it won’t take long before BBM across all platforms will include voice and video.

    • Hi Scott,

Our BB10 app is currently in advanced levels of development and testing. We’re working as fast as we can, and we hope to bring you news soon. Note that the wait for our BB10 app will not be nearly as long as the wait for the update for the current version had been.

      * And actually, it will already contain our call services as well :)

    • Hi,

Unfortunately we still don’t have an official release date. We can say however that it will probably be released alongside the new BBOS 10.2
We’re working on it as fast as we can, and when we have news we’ll let you know :)

  5. Hi

Can you please know when will be Viber Launching for BB1O.

    • Hi Danish,

At this point, we unfortunately do not intend to release a version of Viber for BB10.
If anything changes, we will keep you posted.

      • This is a classic chicken or the egg problem…
BTW, version 2.3.5.329 works on BB10 with OS 10.2.0.1767, so if y’all decide to port a version and see if TRACTION occurs, be my guest.
This has been tested on the Z10 and Q10 and yes, we are all serious about getting these apps on our phones 😀
