Thorsten Heins Pegs US BlackBerry Q10 Release for End of May – Predicts Death of Tablets

BlackBerrys CEO, Thorsten Heins, has been on another media blitz this week. This time he hit Bloomberg along with Fox and a few others. He told Fox in a video interview that we are going to see a US launch of the BlackBerry Q10 in the “end of May” timeframe. They also talk a little about the investigation into the returns claims by analysts that were debunked. Check it out below:

Thorsten also told Bloomberg in an interview that:

“In five years I don’t think there’ll be a reason to have a tablet anymore,” Heins said in an interview yesterday at the Milken Institute conference in Los Angeles. “Maybe a big screen in your workspace, but not a tablet as such. Tablets themselves are not a good business model.”

That actually makes sense to me since tablets are now really just compromise devices. Thorsten sees the future in mobile computing not necessarily tablets. In short they have more planned than just phones. Check out the interview below:

  1. I have a feeling that he’s trying to push the Q10 as hard as he can just like the Z10 (no cheaper BlackBerry 10 phone but a curve is in the works).
I believe that this is a way to pave the road to a new PlayBook…
    I mean, mind blowing…

  2. With the way Samsung is going 5.9″ Note 3 rumored – they will practically have a tablet that makes phone calls.
