IT Manager Lets Administrators Manage Their BES Using BlackBerry 10 & Legacy Devices

 IT Manager

IT Manager is trying to help BES admins get the same sort of pocket management capabilities some vendors were offering on legacy BlackBerry devices. This new IT Manager app from the guys who make SmarterApps gives admins the ability to administrate their BES from the BlackBerry Z10 and Q10 along with Bold, Curve, and Torch legacy devices. The feature set for launch nicely covers the basics with more hopefully coming in the future.

Current features include:

  • Creating & Deleting Users
  • Setting User Activation Passwords
  • Remove and Wipe Devices
  • Set Password and Lock Devices
  • Add and Remove Users from Groups
  • Set User and Group IT Policies
  • View IT Policies Rules
  • View Server and BES Instances Status
  • Support for managing BES 5.x and BES 10
  • Manage multiple BES Servers Simultaneously

The app will also hopefully be adding features like SSH, Telnet, VNC, RDP, Windows, BES, AWS, and Google apps management with more to be shown at BlackBerry Live this month. The IT Manager app is a subscription of $99 a year and has a free 7 day trial available at

  1. Pretty steep price for something you can already do in the browser from a BES attached Z10. They need to add AD management features for this to be worth even half that price.

  2. I completely agree. While the app is awesome and convenient, I don’t think its worth 99 dollars a year especially when I can pull up the management consoles from my work browser.

If it was a one time fee I’d consider it.
