Still having BlackBerry World Issues On Your BlackBerry Z10? (More Workarounds)

While most of you have received the fix for the BlackBerry World bug on BlackBerry Z10 where the content does not load and just shows the spinning circle. We offered you a workaround before along with confirming that BlackBerry knows of the issue. Now BlackBerry has confirmed that “A server-side fix has been applied on the BlackBerry World server to resolve this issue.” If you are still having the issue BlackBerry recommends the following four workarounds in order. The last one is a bit drastic but it seems like a “last resort” fix. 

If the wonky BlackBerry World loading behavior is still being experienced, complete the following Resolutions in order until the BlackBerry World content loads as expected:

Resolution 1

  1. Close BlackBerry World and reopen it.
  2. Confirm that BlackBerry World is accessible from the home screen.


Resolution 2

Note: The following steps require to enable Content Control for BlackBerry World, once enabled this option cannot be disabled.

  1. Close BlackBerry World.
  2. Open the Music application.
  3. Select the 3 dots icon in the bottom-right of the screen
  4. Select BlackBerry World.
  5. Swipe down from the top bezel and select Settings.
  6. Select Content Controls.
  7. If previously accessed, enter the existing password. If not previously accessed, create a password as prompted.
  8. Change the selected option under Apps and Games to something other than what is currently selected.
  9. Select Back.
  10. Close BlackBerry World and reopen it from the home screen.
  11. Swipe down from the top bezel and select Settings > Content Controls.
  12. Enter the password from Step 7.
  13. Change the option back to desired level under Apps and Games.
  14. Confirm that BlackBerry World is accessible from the home screen.


Resolution 3

Note: Only use this option if the BlackBerry World option is not displayed in the Musicapplication (Step 4 in Resolution 2).

Important: This Resolution requires to enable Content Control for BlackBerry World, once enabled this option cannot be disabled.

  1. Close BlackBerry World.
  2. Open the Browser.
  3. Enter the this URL in the address bar: appworld://parentalcontrols
  4. If previously accessed, enter the existing password. If not previously accessed, create a password as prompted.
  5. Change the selected option under Apps and Games to something other than what is currently selected.
  6. Select Back.
  7. Close BlackBerry World and reopen from the home screen.
  8. Swipe down from the top bezel and select Settings > Content Controls.
  9. Enter the password from Step 4.
  10. Change the option back to the desired level under Apps and Games.
  11. Confirm that BlackBerry World is accessible from the home screen.

Resolution 4

Warning: The following procedures will delete all data, or all data and applications on the BlackBerry smartphone. Back up the data prior to performing this procedure. For instructions, see product documentation.

Backup the smartphone:

  1. Open BlackBerry Link.
  2. Connect the smartphone to to the computer with the micro USB cable.
  3. Create a backup of the smartphone data.
  4. After the Backup is complete, disconnect the smartphone.
  5. On the smartphone, open Settings > Security and Privacy > Security Wipe
  6. Once the wipe has completed, turn the smartphone on by pressing the top Power button.

Perform a selective restore of Media and Settings:

  1. Connect the smartphone to to the computer with the micro USB cable.
  2. Click on the smartphone name at the bottom of the window.
  3. Click on Restore Device Data.
  4. Restore from backup file should be selected.
  5. Select the specific backup file.
  6. Remove the check from Restore all data
  7. Check only Media and Settings then click Restore.

Once the smartphone has restarted, confirm that BlackBerry World is accessible from the home screen.

  1. Hi, I am using blackberry Torch and blackberry world is not working. It tells me that my device is not connected to the wireless connection networks and try again. I am very well connected to my wifi. And I can not use all my apps in my BBTorch :(….can you please let know what I should do, or is BB Torch world is down?

  3. I have tried to download Viber onto my Z10, without luck, although it is noted as an app which can be downloaded?? Anyone else with this problem?

  4. I’m using a blackberry z10, so I did a security wipe on it which was interrupted before finishing n wen I later restored my phone back I could not find d media player in it please what do I do

  6. I have a problem with my z10, after i made the 7.1 update the phone can’t see my contact numbers when someone call me and i can’t receive messages until i restart phone

  7. Hi, my appworld shoots up a message when I try to open it nl. “BlackBerry appworld has encountered a problem and must now close” it somehow fixed itself for about a week but is doing it again now. I have tried finding a solution on blackberry forums and everywhere else please please help
