Verizon BlackBerry Z10 Owners Are Dying for an OS Update…

I have been hearing from quite a few readers who recently purchased the Verizon BlackBerry Z10 about issues I know BlackBerry has resolved months ago. I know that Verizon has an older version of the BlackBerry 10 OS but some of these issues are very painful. For example, here is just one laundry list of complaints from a single Verizon BlackBerry Z10 owner today:

  • BlackBerry 10 Android Player menu swipe down stops working – Only fix is to turn on airplane mode, reboot, and pray.
  • Charging just stops for no reason
  • Sudden random reboots multiple times a day (They cannot use third party apps that need to be running)
  • Random lack of connection in Android apps when other apps work along with Force Close annoyances
  • Browser crashes regularly

All of these issues are things that I know BlackBerry has directly addressed and fixed in current OS updates on other carriers. For some reason the Verizon BlackBerry Z10 has been left out in the cold leaving BlackBerry faithful users with a bad impression of BlackBerry Z10. One that does not exist on any other carrier (that I know of).

I know that BlackBerry is putting the full court press on Verizon to get them to update but I have not been able to get any target dates due to their miles of red tape. If you do happen to have a BlackBerry Z10 on Verizon and are running into issues I only posted this to make sure you know that you are not alone AND this is not a typical BlackBerry Z10 experience. Hopefully Verizon users will get an OS update shortly to rectify the situation. Until now those Verizon Z10 users who are willing to take risks and have some technical know how are trying to load the latest leaked OS on their devices with some luck.

  1. BlackBerry needs to give Verizon the boot. This is damaging the BlackBerry brand because Verizon chose to install an older OS than what was available several weeks BEFORE the U.S. launch.

  2. Patience Verizon users, the 10.0.10.85 Release is fast, smooth, and stable. It will come. In fact, 10.1 is almost here, so hope Verizon will jump to it.

  3. Verizon needs to get on the ball. They’re actually promoting the Z10 very well, but they need to keep to date on those updates.

  4. If your carrier is leaking the latest version … get it from another carrier. It’s pretty easy. Buy a prepaid card from the vendor of your choice, plug it in, reboot and search for an update. It will prompt you the latest version of this carrier. It just needs the notification of a new version. After that you can change the SIM and can installed with home carrier, done. I did the same with Vodafone prepaid cause TMO was pushing out the newest version a bit after.

  5. I think it’s pretty unfair what Verizon has been doing, I got the z10 with them just to find out they were running an outdated version of the os, I spoke with the manager of the store I got my phone from, and I had to exchange it for an iPhone 5 and in top if that I had to pay 35 dollars! I mean that was just ridiculous ! I told to the manager that it was unfair that I paid for the phone and first month of service more than 500 dollars just to get an outdated phone? It’s the first time I open an account with Verizon and trust me, after my long ass contract is done, there won’t be no way to go back with them, fucking scamers!

  6. All these items were fixed for me when I installed the leak on Saturday. I’ve been so much more happier since.

  7. It should also be stated that Verizon Z10s are unlocked. Now of course, you can’t use full 4G on any other network so…there’s that…BUT the unlocked status allows for things like the leaked update to work FYI

  8. Am using an unlocked version of verizon z10 on Airtel network. Am stuck on Os 10.0.9.2709. How do I upgrade my os cos some apps don’t work bcos the os is below their requirements.

  9. There is no group contacts available for sms, no copy. Paste options in facebook

  10. This has gotten to be ridiculous! Where’s the 10.1 update? Is everyone certain that this is the carrier’s fault? There’s just far too many problems with the Z10. I’m ready to bail out and get the new Galaxy. Ugggghhhhh.
