You have to be entertained by analysts. Quite a few of the pessimistic ones were hammered badly when BlackBerry announced their earnings last month and the analysts were totally wrong. My favorite was Pacific Crest saying that “there is no line of sight to profitability” a month before BlackBerry announced a profit. These are the same analysts who predicted that BlackBerry may sell only 300,000 Z10 phones when they actually sold 1 million.
Now the analysts are back again starting with ITG analyst analyst Joe Fersedi who said that the BlackBerry Z10 “started poorly and weakened significantly as the days passed, and that Z10 sales are in line-to marginally ahead of anemic sales of older BlackBerry models.” according to techvibes. Detwiler analyst Jeff Johnston piled on harder (via WSJ) stating that “We believe key retail partners have seen a significant increase in Z10 returns to the point where, in several cases, returns are now exceeding sales, a phenomenon we have never seen before,”
I am not sure if BlackBerry will be responding to these doom and gloom analysts but there are over 155 million shares short on BBRY stock so somebody is losing serious money if they do not go down. Let us know what your personal experiences have been with Z10 sales in the comments. I have personally found that users like their Z10 on AT&T and T-Mobile but the much older OS on the Verizon model is causing some serious issues.
