I am only mentioning Data Monitor because a few readers have been asking me to cover it. Data Monitor by ETwoLTech tries to help you monitor your data usage on BlackBerry 10 to avoid paying overage fees. Most carriers will do this for you via SMS, app, website or other means but some do not or have delays in reporting. Data Monitor does a decent job of counting and tracking your data usage but it has a critical flaw that is truly not the developers fault but makes the app mostly irrelevant. You must launch Data Monitor yourself and make sure it stays open as an active frame for it to work. Otherwise your data will not be counted.
Personally I find that to be a deal breaker but this app will quickly become a must have once BlackBerry allows for headless apps in a future update. Until then you can decide if you want to drop $0.99 on Data Monitor when it will only monitor your data when the app is running.
