Kobo Books Confirmed to be Coming to BlackBerry 10

Kobo Logo

I hope you guys didn’t miss me too much while I was out for Passover for the last 9 days or so. There have been quite a few things going on since then and I am catching up quickly from my mostly offline vacation. One of the new updates that just came in was confirmation from BlackBerry that Kobo Books is coming to BlackBerry 10 at some unconfirmed future date. Its nice to see Kobo coming along after they launched on the PlayBook. Hopefully this time they will keep updating and improving their app beyond the launch.

  1. And how do they expect to compete with Kindle?

  2. No idea. They really lost their first mover advantage

  3. Kobo is actually not a bad app if you started using it with the Playbook. I have Kindle on my BB10 and Kobo on my Playbook and I actually prefer the Kobo app especially here in Canada. First the books are cheaper on Kobo generally. Yes, you get some freebies on Amazon but from the authors I read they’re cheaper on Kobo.

Kobo releases most of the best sellers the same day as Amazon.

If you’re looking beyond just e-books than yes Amazon is better however if you were simply just judging ebooks vs ebooks I’d take Kobo any day.

But, than you also have BB app world to supply you with music and video downloads anyways so that’s competition against Amazon and even Netflixx…

Ultimately as users on BB10 we should have choices. I’d like to read books I have on Kindle (not many) and books I have on Kobo on my phone whenever I might have a free moment.

  4. I like to have them both…
