One of the easiest (and cheapest) ways to freshen the look of your phone is to change the wallpaper. I realize that some people may be perfectly happy with the wallpaper that came with the phone when they first turned it on or simply inserting a picture of their family, but there are others, like myself, who are constantly on the hunt for the perfect wallpaper.
The first rule of wallpaper hunting is making sure the image has sufficient resolution since there is nothing worse than a fuzzy wallpaper. One way to do this is to include the resolution in with your search. For example I have the Z10 with a resolution of 768×1280 and I like dark wallpapers, so if I do a Google image search for “768×1280 dark” it comes up with a whole bunch of images with sufficient resolution that will be scaled appropriately for my device. Another way to do this is to look on the Gelaskins website. They are a company that sells skins for your phone designed with a lot of very nice artwork. In order to match your device wallpaper to the skin they have a link to the matching wallpaper. Since I don’t want to cover up the beauty of my Z10 with a skin, I simply download the wallpaper.
There are a couple of reasons why a like dark wallpapers. One reason is that it blends in with my all black z10. Another reason is that the wallpaper doesn’t clash with all the icon colors. Some of my favourites are below:
Some days however simply need a splash of colour. For these days I turn to wallpaper artist extraordinaire Simon C Page. His designs are amazing and he offers them at no cost. He has had people asking him if they can pay him in some way for his work so he sets up links to different charities that people can donate to. The image at the top of the page is his design as well as this one:
If any of you have any must see wallpapers I would love to hear from you! The quest continues.
