BlackBerry Link for PC Updated With One Way Outlook to Device Sync (Change Log)

One of the main complaints I have been hearing about BlackBerry Link desktop software for BlackBerry 10 is the lack of Outlook sync. I am still not sure why this is so critical but I guess people have their reasons for not wanting wireless sync. BlackBerry promised to rectify this first with an update that brings one way Outlook to BlackBerry 10 sync and they have delivered. The latest BlackBerry Link v1.0.1 for PCs allows this one way sync though sadly Mac users will have to wait for an update. BlackBerry is still bringing two way sync as a follow up so this is just the beginning.

Here is the official feature list:

New Features

Personal information management data import

Customers can utilize BlackBerry® Link to initiate a one-way transfer of contacts & calendar data from their computer to their BlackBerry® smartphone. An upcoming release of BlackBerry® Link will support full two-way synchronization.

Note: You do not require this transfer if the contacts and calendar appointments are wirelessly synchronized to a web-based email account that is set up on the device.

Caution: Updates made to contacts or calendar appointments in the desktop application will not be synchronized if the customer chooses to import their data to the device again.

Check out the latest BlackBerry Link software here. Kudos to Barry for sending this in!

  1. Some other issues with the BB-10 sync is that, when you sync your contacts, it adds multiples of the same contact. It also does not designate between the contacts phone numbers. (home, work, mobile, etc) it just lists me as Other 1, Other 2, and so on. This is a major pain when it comes to hands free voice dialing.
