Research Showing BlackBerry Advertising is Turning Things Around

BlackBerry Gaining Back Ground on Ad Awareness while iPhone Purchase Intent Slip-000219

A few readers sent us a new Forbes article about the changes to BlackBerry brand awareness in the last 12 months. According to BrandIndex BlackBerry brand awareness is growing nicely ahead of the US launch while purchase intent for iPhone users has gone down. Ad awareness of the BlackBerry brand with smartphone owners went up from 6% in mid January to 21% now in February after BlackBerrys ad blitz.

Forbes points out that YouGov InvestorView is also showing similar data  pointing towards higher purchase intent from BlackBerry users than this time last year. Just compare the two charts below:

What are your thoughts? How is BlackBerry doing in terms of advertising and raising brand awareness building up to the launch next week in the US?

  1. Certainly people know what it is that I’m carrying: “Is that the New BlackBerry10?” is a common question.

BlackBerry Marketing is really doing a great job of getting out the message. The BlackBerry10 message is on airplanes, airports, billboards, newspapers, television and radio.

Of course – this will come out of that pile of cash that they have which the analysts will cry “Bleeding Cash!!” next quarterly report…

Then again… someone bit into that message and purchased 1M units…

  2. The “Likely Brand for New Phone” graphs are very revealing. A couple of interesting points that it shows:
    * You see how Samsung is really grabbing a hold of the Android market
    * You see how quickly things can change in a year (especially with regards to Samsung’s share.)
    * I can’t for the life of me figure out why Apple would have such an insanely high loyalty rate. Are they all that naive? I think I know the answer to that one 🙂
    * I would only call that a “slight uptick” in the interest in BB from other users. I think they would probably like to see those numbers jump a bit more.
    * They say this was Q1. But do we know when in Q1? Was this before or after the launch?
