We told you previously that the open source project OpenWhatsApp was bringing a free open source WhatsApp client to BlackBerry 10. They even beat the official WhatsApp client which is supposed to be available next week. There is one catch to OpenWhatsApp’s availability. It is only available for sideloading currently since BlackBerry World app approvals are stuck in the stone ages. Thankfully OpenWhatsApp has provided instructions for users to sideload it using the free PlayBook App Manager and DDPB sideloading tools.
Check out OpenWhatsApp’s instructions here

PS: This is even available for the BlackBerry Q10 for those of you who have Dev Alpha C’s

Again, somebody is pissed off at BlackBerry World…lol
I can’t wait to see the Q10, I really miss those nuclear batteries I used to have in my old phones.

You are just seeing the growing frustration. Its rediculous that apps are stuck in the review queue for over a month now!

If I poured my heart in to making apps and time is money, literally…
Then BlackBerry owes developers a lot…

Something tells me a Netflix app might make it through a little faster.
Is this any better than a sideloaded WhatsApp? If you have to sideload anyway, why not use the original?

Then it will have access to your contacts in OpenWhatsApp. The current sideloads do not

What’s a good alternative to Whatsapp on the Z10. The people behind it are just a bunch of amateurs when it comes to respecting one’s privacy.
