BlackBerry Q10 QWERTY NS1 Battery & Rubberized Back Caught on Camera

BlackBerry Q10 rubberized back4

BlackBerry showed us prototypes of the BlackBerry Q10 QWERTY keyboard devices during the global launch but those devices had plastic back along with the rendered pictures BlackBerry gave us. With the BlackBerry Z10 launching with a rubberized back its interesting to see that there is another model of the Q1- floating around with such a rubberized back. There is no way to tell if that is a newer or older prototype but either way it looks good.

Also worth noting is they managed to get pictures of the BlackBerry Q10’s larger NS1 2100mAh battery. They also show off the metal bar that slightly protrudes from the back of the device to give it a little angle on the table and make sure it does not get scratched on the back.

  1. man, if this is the Q10 then I’m sold… was not digging the plastic look of the one showcased during the launch of BB10.

  2. I have a Z10 already but I want a Q10 too. #firstworldproblems

  3. slick. I like the look.
but still no charging contacts for use in a bedside charge pod?

  4. Still not willing to give up my 9900 for the z10. If i made the switch to pecking a glass slab then im not sure i’d stay with bb. But the q10 will definitely make me upgrade. Good point about the lack of contact points for charging though.

    • Give the Z10 a chance. It is the best keyboard experience on glass. I am in BlackBerry Bliss with the Z10! Having the ability to switch seamlessly between three languages and switching the keyboard quickly to special characters with one swipe is great. Also fabulous is the ability to swipe backwards across the keyboard to delete the last word. I use that all the time and its surprising that no one else thought of this wonderful time saver!

Another great plus is lying back and enjoying the wonderfully large, sharp, and crisp 1280×768 356 ppi display. There is always a compromise :)

The Q10 gets a smaller display, but a physical keyboard. The physical keyboard has its pluses but it is restrictive, as I’ve explained above, and these are only some of the benefits of the soft keyboard. The physical keyboard cannot be used easily only with one hand because so many keys require holding the SHIFT or ALT keys.

Also on the plus side for the Q10, is the larger 2100 mAh battery.

    • RIM has ensured that the Q10 will be quite a competitive device in all respects. You get PlayBook-like or SwiftKey-like word suggestions as you type, and you also get a fantastic 3-inch display that is very sharp. The Q10 has a square display, so orientation doesn’t really matter. The cradle is the only “complication” ;)

  5. I love the look but I just want one, any BB10 device!

  6. Either way, you can’t go wrong…both back covers are winners in my book but, the rubberized one will have a better grip to it.

    • I’ve actually held one with the plastic-like back and it really feels good to the touch. I’m not sure the rubberized back is the way to go. Most folks may put it in a protective case anyway.
