BlackBerry CEO Says BlackBerry 10 Sales Above Their “Ambitious” Expectations

There are quite a few people on the street wondering what BlackBerry’s CEO Thorsten Heins is going to say when they report earnings. Heins told a Spanish newspaper Expansion (via Bloomberg) today that “last month that sales have been above the Waterloo, Ontario-based company’s ambitious expectations and production has increased.” He also went on to say that “We are receiving a very positive response to BlackBerry 10 from our customers, but it’s also been attractive for customers coming from other platforms… We are a little surprised by that.”

Its not surprising that the stock has been going up based on the statement 🙂

  1. Funny, that none of this gets reported by the media; always the aleged doom and gloom news.

    • Agreed. It seems the Shorts got the DOOM and gloom article writers by the short and curlies.
We need more positive fact based articles, enough of the conjecture found in most negative articles.

  2. Yes, the media coverage is so very strange. While a large percentage of smartphone users are “dedicated” iOS users, I’m certain an even higher amount is in the media (yes, you know the type!). And they seem very much annoyed that BBRY may be having any sort of comeback.

I have no issues with the shorts – need shorts for any stock to have a truly meteoric rise. Ultimately, the success or failure of the business will drive the stock to it’s true value.

  3. Yeah I find them sort of entertaining. Personally I just go by how many BlackBerry Z10s I have seen in the states and its not even being sold here.

  4. Here in Canada the adoption rate has been huge. My brother works at KPMG and he said his office is being taken over by Z10’s. Every iPhone user I show my Z10 to is very impressed. Most people love the size and think the keyboard and camera are awesome. The best part is showing them the “solar charging” feature. 😉

  5. Crackberry reports through a third source that at least 50% of Z10 sales in Canada are to people coming from other platforms. Sure, some of them may have emigrated to those platforms from BlackBerry but many are coming to BlackBerry for the first time. Very encouraging news, indeed.
