One of the biggest gripes I hear from other Z10 users is that there is no WhatsApp. We do know that there is a native app in development for deployment this month. But there is also an alternative coming to market. It is called OpenWhatsApp, and comes from a group of developers that brought it to the Nokia N9 when native support was ended.
Here are a few screenshots:
You can get all the info and sign up for news updates via the OpenWhatsApp website.

Android port should work, though, shouldn’t it? Definitely works nicely on the Playbook.

The Android port doesn’t fully work. The contacts will not load. Someone will have to message you in order for you to engage in a conversation.

Right. I do recall that now. WhatsApp does access a contact list which you can build – it just accesses a list that lives inside the “other dimension” of the Android Runtime as opposed to the native contacts.
At any rate, if anyone is looking for a WhatsApp BAR, this should do the trick.
