BlackBerry Announces Top 5 Improvements to BlackBerry OS 10.0.10.672

BlackBerry_Z10_black_ENG_Front_4GLTEBlackBerry announced today that they have pushed out an OS update for the BlackBerry Z10. The list of improvements are based on the feedback from early adopters of the device. If that is the case I  like the new BlackBerry, because that is one thing that will make the device much better. Hopefully they keep this up and bring out new features to BlackBerry 10. Check out the list of improvements below. The software version is 10.0.10.85 and the OS version is 10.0.10.672.

  1. 3rd Party App PerformanceWe’ve improved performance for 3rd party applications, so developers can build apps that run fast and smooth for you. With this update, you might want to keep an eye out for some fresh new app launches in March, like WhatsApp.ScreenHunter_200 Feb. 28 18.31
  2. Phone, Calendar, and ContactsAmong the top improvements and features are fixes for Gmail calendars on BlackBerry 10. You’ll also find improvements in the BlackBerry Hub for logging calls log and how conversations are handled. We’ve also made general improvements to importing contacts from online sources.
  3. CameraWe’ve optimized the camera for better photos in low-light situations. You’ll love the difference this makes for photos where you don’t use a flash – like the Time Shift Camera feature.
  4. Browser and MediaWith more and more of you using the gorgeous screen on the BlackBerry Z10 to consume online videos and media, we’ve made a number of improvements to the software in the way the browser handles video playback to provide a fantastic experience.
  5. Battery LifeThe software team has included a number of battery life optimizations with over 60 battery saving improvements since launch to keep you moving. These combined improvements are designed so that you see improvements in battery life and heavy users especially should see a longer average usage per charge cycle.

How to update your software on BlackBerry 10

Software is available over the air (OTA). Typically, you’ll get a notification about new updates, but you can manually check to see if it has been made available by your service provider and install it in a few simple steps.
Settings> Software Updates> Check for Updates> — then follow the on screen steps to install.

The download is approximately 150MB in size, so I recommend updating when connected to Wi-Fi.

There you have it – the first OTA update to your BlackBerry 10 smartphone. We’ll be rolling out the update with all of our carrier partners around the globe over the coming weeks. Be sure to check it out when it’s available and let us know what you think in the comments below. Your feedback is always welcomed and we will continue to listen as we update and improve BlackBerry 10

  1. I like it so far. Haven’t tested all the above improvements but have noticed better low light photography and faster Hub interactions. Also like the ability to allow only calls during bedside mode, something I did with my 9900. Good job!

  2. I’m glad to see BlackBerry is listening to the feedback of its consumers.

  3. Can the update be performed on a PC as well?
Like BB7 and all the previous, is it downloadable and can it be installed the old fashioned way???

  4. Don’t you mean .672??

  5. What about hidden files and folders. Please bring that back

  6. Awesome. Gmail calendar functionality is a much welcomed update.

  7. I am getting version 10.0.10.85

  8. My current software version is 10.0.9.348 and the OS version is 10.0.9.2372. My blackbery Z10 shows me that my current version is the latest. How can I get OS 10.0.10.672?

  9. Sa me for me : no update found :(

    • The same for me.
The update was not coming. The phone detected the new update once I activated the SIM card.

  10. It seems that is only in certain countries but according to the article they will roll out the os with other carriers in the next few weeks

  11. Ah, so it’s like the PlayBook now, can’t download on the side and do your own update…geez

    • You can sideload if you get a hold of the actual file, I believe this one leaked, but be-careful it is only for certain models. RIM game the device the same name but depending on where you are there is differences in the device.

      • But if the OS isn’t compatible with the phone it will not load in the first place right?

  12. Great and fast update! I do notice improvements in the battery life and the HUB updates (especially the bug where it was stuck on landscape mode for a while). So happy as a Blackberry Customer!

  13. Although a lot of people here in the US complain that the device isn’t selling yet, I’m sick and tired of have a new buggy device waiting on the next update.
Keep the updates coming BlackBerry and see you Q10 in June… :)

  14. Haven’t seen the update yet in Australia but I have heard the good news about the battery life on this updated build. arrgh.. i’m sooo drooled here, hopefully i won’t need to wait that long. See you soon BB 10.0.10.672 and BB 10.1 soon!!! can’t wait for Skype, WhatsApp & Instagram too!

  15. Depressing having to wait for a Z10. All the hoopla is about BB10. Can’t wait to get mine.
