BlackBerry Patents Touch Free Gesture Photo Manipulation & Editing

Patent Gesture

BlackBerry was just awarded another cool patent that one day may make it into BlackBerry 10 devices. The patent is for touch free gestures that will allow you to manipulate a picture or other selection using gestures. Instead of the current gestures that use the bezel and touchscreen these new patented gestures use an infrared camera to detect your movement above the screen. Maybe that front facing camera on the BlackBerry Z10 had infrared capabilities… Its fun to speculate!

  1. The camera may not have infrared capabilities, but the touch screen already does! I swear it has the heat mapping under the touch screen! would that not be able to implement this!? WOO 10.1 update! lol

    • I read about the heat sensor mqap under the touchscreen to assist with typing. But, I could see this used for a variety of purposes, way to go Blackberry make this happen ASAP!
