I have been getting this question a few times from users so I thought I would cover it in our Tips & Tricks series. There are actually two ways to hide and one way to show the BlackBerry keyboard anywhere. I am really hoping BlackBerry brings back the corner bezel swipe to toggle the keyboard but until then here are the options:
- To easily hide the keyboard you can always hold down the spacebar for 2 seconds. To get the keyboard back just click on any text area
- Otherwise there is an easy gesture to TOGGLE the BlackBerry 10 keyboard using two fingers. This will both show and hide the keyboard practically anywhere. You simply use two fingers and either SWIPE UP from the bottom bezel or SWIPE DOWN from the screen in the direction of the bottom bezel. Both seem to work for both showing and hiding the keyboard.
Let us know if you notice any other ways to show and hide the keyboard!

You can also swipe down diagonally from the top right

Hmm that does not work for me. In the hub it just pulls down the quick settings menu

I just swipe up with one finger just a bit and slide back down. It allows me to get rid of the keyboard with one finger.

If you can bring the keyboard at any time, does it support the same keyboard shortcuts as the Q10?

I agree! 2 finger gestures are not what bb10 is about.
I have noticed though that if you swipe down from the top of the keyboard (aim right!), then you can hide the keyboard with one swift swipe

Is there not a “show keyboard” under the BB Menu button like on the older touch devices?

Ok. I didn’t see that one coming. I have been using the BB Menu for so long now.

Yeah I know but once you get used to the gestures there is no going back. I started gesturing on other phones when I pick them up.
