5 Things You Should to Know About the Q10!

blackberry-q10-oficAre you one of the anxious ones awaiting the Q10 BlackBerry 10 device? My wife is and I hear it everyday, and more as release day gets closer.  Inside BlackBerry blog posted a few items that they feel you should know about the Q10 to help build more excitement.

Here they are:

  1. The keyboard is bigger and better. The BlackBerry Q10 features a straight keyboard design, and is wider than earlier BlackBerry smartphones. The metal frets between the keys are also bigger, offering a more visual appeal while helping to eliminate errors while typing on the go.
  2. The BlackBerry Q10 has the largest battery of any BlackBerry smartphone, ever. The BlackBerry Q10 battery is 2100 mAh in size, which means, well, you can talk, work and play nearly all day on a single charge.
  3. Better shortcuts with Touch and Go. This time-saving feature is essentially a shortcut that allows you to send messages faster than ever before. All you have to do is start typing an action like “email” or “BBM,” then a name, and you can quickly take action. Message sent. BOOM!
  4. The design is meticulous, light and durable. The back plate on the BlackBerry Q10 is made of a unique glass-weave material that is lighter and stronger than plastic. The device is surrounded by a machined stainless steel frame with a durable black coating, which is designed to prevent the edges from chipping and keeps your BlackBerry Q10 looking good.
  5. The BlackBerry Q10 is a BlackBerry 10 device, and it performs like one. The BlackBerry Q10 was designed to offer amazing performance available on BlackBerry 10 devices like the BlackBerry Z10. In terms of features and functionality, it runs on the same BlackBerry 10 platform, it can run the same apps, and has a removable back plate for easily replacing the battery or swapping your SIM card.

  1. This is going to be a battle for me… between the Z10 and Q10. Love the big screen on the Z10, but love the keyboard on the Q10… Arrrgh!

  2. Fortunately, I need to both for testing/dev.

Erm, I mean, “unfortunately”. Yeah, that’s it.

It would’ve been cool of those frets were thin, capacitive touchscreens so we could still swipe words up 😉

  3. Ricky, you just had to post this didn’t you? 🙂 I had come to terms with the fact I am going Z and then this. Bigger keyboard (really never cared for the Bold 9700 board) AND a bigger battery? Now I’m re-thinking my decision which also means I will be waiting longer for the Q release most likely. The other goodies sound great, too, btw.

  4. I’ve been looking all over the web for the battery capacity of the Q10, now I know why it wasn’t easy to find.
And I bet the sales for the Q10 will be much better than the Z10, which is why the Z10 came out first, also to rival its competitors like apple and android.

  5. “cant wait!” – Bart Scott, NY jets

  6. So want… too bad the developer special edition only comes as the z10…

  7. Good stuff. I wonder if the camera on the Q10 performs the same as the one on the Z10.

  8. One other item I’d add is it’s 0.15 mm thinner than the Bold 9930. 🙂 Though sadly it weighs about 0.3 oz more. 🙁

I think the Bold 9930 looks thinner than it actually is because of the sharp curve around the back edge of the phone.

  9. I can’t wait for this phone!!! I just hope Sprint carries it in white if not I still want it. So excited. 🙂

  10. BB needs to nail the design of their slider and to bring it to market fast!
The Q10 is a great device: Amazing keyboard, much needed bigger battery (unlike the Z10 :S) and a very speedy OS, but the screen is just too small. I’m not sure that many devs are going to adapt their app to the screen size by finding some clever way to reveal some UI elements only in certain situations. There are 560 pixels missing (~40% of the Z10’s screen!!). Even the tiled-widgets are smaller (headache!) …

  11. As much as I loved my keyboard I decided I could not wait for the Q10 and I am giving the Z10 a try.

Over all I still prefer the qwerty but I’m getting used to it and I am loving my Z10!

  12. My renew date is August and I am hoping that I can get this Q10 but at the moment I see T-Mobile only getting the Z10 right now. I hope they also get the Q10.
