NHL Announces Live Game Streaming & More for BlackBerry 10 GameCenter

The NHL has once again teamed up with BlackBerry this time for BlackBerry 10. They have announced a new partnership for this year to bring NHL GameCenter to BlackBerry 10. This will include live scores and stats, live-game simulation, post-game video highlights and other free features. You also have the option to upgrade to paid premium subscriptions for more content and the ability to watch live out of market NHL games, check out in-game highlights, and streaming live game audio.

BlackBerry is also teaming up for a promotion of NHL with advertisements and more including NHL Network and RIM will also be sponsoring editorial content. That seems like it is a win-win for both of them considering the launch in Canada shortly.

Optimized NHL GameCenter App Available on the New BlackBerry 10 Platform
      NEW YORK (January 31, 2013) – The National Hockey League® (NHL) today
announced that it has renewed its North American partnership with

platforms including NHL Network™ and as well as League broadcast
partners. Much of BlackBerry’s media support will be allocated against NHL
Trade Deadline Day – April 3, 2013. The agreement secures BlackBerry as the
presenting sponsor of the Trade Deadline show airing on NHL Network U.S.,
which will feature BlackBerry 10 integration into the broadcast. BlackBerry
also will sponsor the editorial content for the Trade Deadline on

      In an effort to serve NHL fans and ensure the best experience on the
most popular screens, the NHL announced that it has developed their
award-winning NHL GameCenter app for the new BlackBerry 10 platform. The
NHL GameCenter app provides fans live scores and stats, live-game
simulation, post-game video highlights and other free features. Users of
NHL GameCenter may upgrade to paid premium subscriptions to access
additional content and become mobile hockey insiders by watching live
out-of-market NHL games, checking out in-game highlights and streaming
live-game audio.
      NHL GameCenter has been optimized for the BlackBerry 10 platform and
will feature a “peek” capability that lets the user swipe one screen over
to reveal additional content underneath and iconography at the bottom of
the screen with quick links to additional content.

  1. This is awesome. I was just trying to get the ported Android app to work on the Playbook last night. I got the highlights to work really nicely but could not get live game video to work.

    Oh, and btw, tsk, tsk, you said RIM . 🙂
