NewsRob Google Reader Client in BlackBerry World for BlackBerry 10

newsrob2 Newsrob

I am a bit confused about this one. I was looking for a good Google Reader client for BlackBerry 10 in BlackBerry World and stumbled across this copy of NewsRob. It is the latest version of NewsRob 4.8.8 for Android yet it says it was released in March of 2012 and even has reviews dating back then. In a quick Google search I could not find any other news site covering the release. Either way I had to try it on the Dev Alpha and it actually worked like a charm! I even ported over gReader for testing purposes and it also works like a charm. I really hope they decide to heavily support the apps in BlackBerry World because they could make some people (including me) very happy even with a port that works as nicely as gReader and NewsRob do right now.

PS: I just hope this is an official developer listing because the gReader one I found does not seem to be. The support email for NewsRob is the developers personal Gmail account so my guess is yes!

  1. Yeah, news rob has been on there for a while now, as well as a couple of others. Things usually fall apart when trying to follow link or watch media. The greader app is a ripoff to make a quick $100. One more reason I’m not a fan of the portathons. They brought too much garbage. BBW and the other app stores desperately need a rating system with a label given at approval time. Grade a,b or c.
But I digress… There is a topic in greader’s feature request board about bb10. People need to flood it with requests :)

  2. I hope it’s real. I used to use Newsrob on a Droid before I switched back to BB. It’s the only app that I miss from the Android platform.
