Update: We received word from WhatsApp regarding the update.
The service model for WhatsApp on BlackBerry has not recently changed. Version 2.9.571 had bug which caused it to incorrectly display “lifetime service” in place of the correct service expiration date. This bug has since been fixed, and version 2.9.653 has been posted.
This bug only affects the display of the expiration date in the client, not the actual expiration date of the account.
The popular cross platform messenger WhatsApp recently updated to v2.9.571. This new update brings a nice change, after updating I noticed the app pricing change to Free Lifetime service.
The app also brings new emoticon, performance improvement and gives users on BlackBerry Free Lifetime service. To update to the new version click on settings, then about, check for update, or go to the following link. Now lets just hope they bring the app to BB10.

Looks like it isn’t free unless you have paid for it already.

Yes the update was only available online, but looks like it was pulled. As you can see the version on the screenshot I got is different from what is available at the moment I just checked.

Sucks a big one to single out BlackBerry users.

So many social media apps out there. Facebook chat is free and most folks are on Facebook. The only problem is Facebook owns everything you do.

I wouldn’t pay to use a chat app. Especially one that charges different prices per platform. Lame

We are using your app on everyday basis. We are over 1300 audio image and video notes. Just wanted to say if you can increase the group size. We don’t want to switch. Please increase group size
