BlackBerry 10 Packs Forbidden Password List With 106 Entries

BlacKBerry Work

RIM has long allowed enterprises to set a list of disallowed passwords or dictionary passwords for BlackBerrys through BES. Now it looks like RIM is extending this to BlackBerry 10 for everyone. RapidBerry spotted a forbidden password list in the BlackBerry 10 OS innards that is supposed to mimic and stay in sync with the BlackBerry ID settings. This means RIM can probably update this list at any time. I did not find the existence of the list as interesting as the actual passwords on the list. Let us know if you are guilty of using any of these!

# Forbidden password list – this is to be kept in sync with the PasswordService.properties file from the BB IdM server

  1. I am currently using banned password #106 as the password on my DevAlpha… may have to change that…

  2. So are loads of other devs :)

  3. One of my early passwords is on there. Numbers 39&40 are a surprise but not a shock.

  4. No Batman or ncc1701… What does RIM have against a healthy childhood?!

  5. No azerty or qwertz… BB10 is not ready for the international market yet ;)
