We heard about BBM Money from Thorsten Heins a bit back but now we have another RIM exec stating that it is coming shortly. Hastings Singh, managing director of RIM’s South Asia Operations, told the BBC that RIM has some tricks its planning on playing first. First of all he said that BlackBerry 10 is coming which he hopes will “recapture the hearts of its loyal fans.” On top of that he said that:
"[But] we definitely can’t be complacent. So we are offering a new innovation – BBM Money which will be launched in Indonesia – first in the world – shortly. It is a peer-to-peer transfer service that anyone with a Blackberry phone can use to transfer funds to someone else with a Blackberry phone."
Shortly sounds like it will be coming soon especially with RIM’s focus on Indonesia and how socially engaged Indonesians are. Anyone want to take bets on when BBM Money launches?

I’ll take January 10. Might be a little later than that though. Soon to Rim doesn’t always translate to soon for us, unfortunately. Interesting concept, too, although I don’t think I will personally have a use for it
