Verizon Waiving Usage Charges for Hurricane Sandy Victims

Carriers are showing some uncharacteristic heart when it comes to addressing the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy. Verizon has announced that they will be waiving and not charging for usage charges when it comes to domestic voice and text messaging from October 29th to November 16th in the hard hit New York and New Jersey neighborhoods. They are also waiving late fees. You can read about it in this announcement.

It does not seem like AT&T and T-Mobile will be as generous though they are going to waive late payment fees and extend payment windows. They have also set up charging booths like the one above in the hardest hit neighborhoods.
