That came out of left field. RIM has released a quick update for the BlackBerry PlayBook OS bringing it to v2.1.0.1088. The update is about 79 Megabytes so its not a complete overhaul and probably makes use of QNX’s differential updates. There is no word on what is in the update since the description is the same as the 2.1 release.
So what are you waiting for? Hit that Check for Updates button now!

What a good time for an update as I’m heading home. Anyone know when 4G playbook gets updated too?

4G would be approved by your carrier. Could be a while, or part of a larger update.

What a fantastic, important update. This is a performance update. Everything works very snappy. Especially the calendar. Switching between dates is quick. Calendar updates fully, and rather quickly. Worth it. No question.

1 hang so far after the update. Forced shutdown required.

I can’t really tell much difference on performance… And Cpanel still will not load….
Never mind the fact it loads on my two year old Torch without a problem…
Come on Blackberry give me a reason to stay with this tablet!

Did anybody mention the web browser score is 411 now.
It may be me, but since OS 2.1, the web browser has been much slower than it already was with OS 2.0

MP4 videos are no longer supported. AVI files are fine.. Even after a few hard resets and full wipe and restores it still doesnt work.. All my movies are MP4 so this thing is a waste of time now..

Interesting. Is it the codec or the container it doesn’t support

I’ve tried two different codec conversions into MP4 and still have had issues. In fact now I am finding that a few avi’s are no longer functioning. I’ve never had any issues with these converted files on a pc, ipad, and even a touchpad. In fact they ran on the blackberry up to the point of update.
