Video: BlackBerry 10 Virtual Keyboard Closer Look

The BlackBerry 10 virtual keyboard is one of the coolest new features of the OS. With predictive, in-letter text and multilanguage support, it has the potential to change the way virtual keyboards are perceived. Lucas over at N4BB put together a video showing an up close look at the BlackBerry 10 keyboard. He runs through some of the keyboard options and demonstrates them on his Dev Alpha on the latest software build. Its great to see the keyboard in action and the options and settings available. I’m quite sure I’ll go with the In-Letter option. The In-Column option looks similar to what is currently in use on the PlayBook, but the In-Letter option with the animations looks to be the most efficient typing option in my opinion. As a side note, I noticed how smooth and quick the dev alpha was when minimizing and switching apps. Definitely quicker than the PlayBook.

Check out the video below and share your thoughts on the BB10 keyboard! Which configuration will you go with? Any landscape typers out there?

Thanks for the video Lucas!

  1. Wow, that is a very neat feature. right now swype seems to be the leading texting style but this looks more efficient and accurate compared to to swype, cant wait to try it out.

  2. I really like this. It would be great if they included copy/paste on the keyboard, that you just swipe toi activate.

  3. I can’t wait to get my hands on this! It reminds me of my storm days :)

  4. You can write a complete sentence with just a few letters. It predicts want words you might write and then all you need to do is swipe the word without typing.

Hope RIM have this patented already. Very cool feature.

  5. Looks great and can’t wait to try. Hoping like hell that they put the Word Substitution part back in though. There is predictive and then there is what I have pre-programmed. I have rather long strings setup on my 9900 that I use for calendar entries. The lack of them is what makes me use my phone for calendar entries versus my PlayBook.
