We all knew something was coming for the Dev Alpha, once Blackberry Jam Americas in San Jose kicked off. Well, the update is now available. One of the biggest features of this update is BlackBerry Messenger! A full list of features after the break.
New in this release
This release offers your first peek at our BlackBerry 10 OS experience, including some of our core apps and new gestures! The following apps and screens are available in this release:
- BlackBerry Messenger (BBM)
- BlackBerry App World storefront (purchases are disabled)
- Browser
- Calendar
- Camera
- Contacts
- Games
- Home screen
- Lock screen
- Out of the box experience
- Settings
For full release notes you can visit the BlackBerry Developer site. Please note you will need a specific app loader for this, and is intended for PC use. Mac users will need windows running in a virtual environment.

Well, we don’t atm, because the update doesn’t work
Doing an OS restore is even worse as it seems to brick devices…

You have to use a Windows app to wipe and update the device:

BBM is pretty cool on that screen. I just hope they’re not done with it
