  1. I have recently (ish) picked up wanting to develop apps and with the help of friends I have picked up running.

I am in the process of talks with a fairly big gaming company about bringing an application to BlackBerry® that will allow users to check on statistics using the said gaming companies api.

Attending bbjam will greatly help meet other developers as I am just in the early stages of starting a Blog mostly dedicated to BlackBerry®, app updates and other developers.. As well as prove how serious I am about wanting to be a dev.

It would be of great help so I can meet and greet people, brainstorm, build relationships and promote the brand.

Lastly; I’ve a bbme tshirt waiting to be printed as well as a few cheeky others :-p

Lastly lastly; I’m irish and would love to get drunk with you all :)

  2. I’ll keep it simple: I’ve started building a couple of apps for BB10, including the new BBSSH. I’d benefit much from some of the in-depth courses I see in the session catalog, but perhaps most of all from the “Ask the Experts” panels.

As important is the networking with other developers in the community – knowledge I might not have found on my own may be something already explored by other community members, and this event is a great place to make contacts for exchanging that kind of information.

I also have lighter-weight children’s educational app in the planning stage and have decided to use webworks for that – I plan on taking a session on bbUI.js since I’ve not been following that project much to date.

    * Note: I’ve already got a pass as an attendee of a roaming Jam, and airfare is covered w/ frequent flier miles – but the hotel cost is gonna kill me on this one.

  3. I want to know more about bbUI and cascades. I’m mainly a gaming developer and after seeing the capabilities of those technologies I really want to know more about them and see them in action. Although I don’t have a BB10 to try them out.

    Regards,

    Alex

  4. So attending BlackBerry 10 Jam Americas will help me solidify the underpinnings of taab, including the NFC and security requirements. I intend to attend sessions with respect to this. Moreover, I’m planning to organize an Unconference sessions about NFC, and mobile payments in general.

I also intend to network with attendees as much as possible, and hopefully start recruiting fellow developers. The conference runs on Sept. 25 to 27, the day after the winners are announced from the MintChip Challenge. Hopefully taab wins, so I can tell people all about it at the conference.

Finally, I’m hoping to gain some insights for my side-project for BB10, called VoiceMob. I think it’s a pretty cool idea, and I’m hoping to learn about the necessary APIs required for it.

  5. I graduated college in Dec. I am currently working for a company that I am making a BlackBerry10 app for the Delivery Drivers which i convinced them to upgrade from windows mobile 5. I am also working on 4 apps in my spare time. Going to BlackBerry Jam Americas would help me to make my apps have the Flow experience, and to integrate my app using the api’s that RIM has provided. I would be able to ask all the experts of each api that i would need and any that would help me in the future.
I would also hope that attended the conference and speaking with the experts that it would help to make my app look and feel like they were made by RIM.
I would be utilizing Cascades for all my work and personal apps, to get the most out of the animations available.

Speaking with the experts would be the a tremendous help with some of the questions I have I can not find in any of their documentations.

  6. I created Film App for Playbook last year. I took the next step and got a booth to demo at SXSW in March. Blackberry had a little house and invited us to Jam there with them. I approached their marketing on the spur of the moment, and they gave me a few playbooks to distribute to filmmakers. The giveaway worked really well; I was able to demo to a lot of filmmakers because of the Playbook giveaway. The demo was polished and created quite a few converts. A few filmmakers from South Africa were sold, and could not wait to get their devices back home.

This year I would like to find Blackberry Marketing well before SXSW, and ask for help so I can cause a splash like I did last year, demoing everything on the PlayBook.

Attending Jam will give me the chance to have some face to face time with the marketers long before I demo at SXSW, so I can focus my plans and create more converts to the platform from the Film and Tech attendees during next year’s SXSW.

  7. I’m nowhere near the level of developer that the post above me are at (which gives me little chance for a prize). I know and love computers and have had every flagship BlackBerry since big blue. I have decided to try and developed and app because RIM said it was going to be easy to do so (and Java seemed so hard). So without any formal training I decided to make a simple list app on Cascades. My app took 88hrs to make and would have taken any one else 8hrs maybe lol. I really enjoyed researching everything I had to do and even though it’s a very simple list app, my plan is to add as much features as I can without over doing it. I believe the beginner’s course for cascades would be a great seminar for me. The other course would help tie in everything else I’d like to learn to continue my upward grasp of developing. You can view my BB10 app at http://appworld.blackberry.com/webstore/content/133047 if you have the alpha device download and give me some feedback please, thanks.

  8. Ok, i dont know why i even entered now

  9. Carl, I’m sure you entered because you’re enthusiastic about the platform, want to share your enthusiasm, and bring more appreciators on board. We’re all here for the same reason.

  10. I agree. @carl everyone has a chance and deserves it all the same good luck to everyone.

  11. I’m working on a fashion blog/picture blog app and I really could use other developers to help it look more flashy and ones that have a sense of style.

Going to Jam America could really help me find those people.

  12. Nice!

  13. Hi!

I’m Daniel Lucas and live in Natal/RN – Brazil. I’m student of public university. Since I know- many time- of the BlackBerry Jam America, I was mad for the event dimension and the experience that could win. I didn’t believe think still have this chance to go to a grandiose event of these!

I will speak more of my history…

Since I know BlackBerry I don’t tire learn more and development her, some years ago I programming for other mobile systems, but sincerely, BlackBerry is BlackBerry (the best) =P

Recently I participated of the BlackBerry Jam World Tour – Brazil, was spectacular! I show my first app “Buca-Lá” and as incentive received one BB10 Dev Alpha(http://goo.gl/0lzCh).

Since then I have not stopped creating app for BlackBerry’s and especially encouraged friends and community who have become very interested (http://goo.gl/xlDjK). I do not have much knowledge, to learn more than “BBUI.js framework” and “Cascade” to improve my applications. Today we have 6 app’s made (“Busca-Lá”, “Ginástica Laboral”, “ySnake”, “Rotine” e “Emotion”) and all of these have been validated and tested, I’m organizing them go by in App World later this month!

I don’t see the hour to have more time and qualify for development more.

There one month I founded the first BlackBerry group of studies in my zone, here in Brazil. How, many people some other zones engaged here. I want do everything to move beyond!(https://www.fb.com/groups/blackberryrn/) I always performing volunteer works and without wanting something in return, my payment is smiles of people and job success.

I am a person who strives to spread what I like and I have certainty: BlackBerry is one of the things in my life that I can only speak well.

Never had the opportunity to go outside of Brazil, even though join a group that promotes American culture and practice English (http://goo.gl/S7SKq) and beyond the gain strong knowledge is to perform longer a dream! adding with participation in BlackBerry Jam America and adding to the chance to meet us, would be 3 achievements and 3 dreams and more than fan of portal, an eternal fan.

Unfortunately I am sure that this is the only chance to go to the BlackBerry Jam America, was went Tour Brazil and spend a little time to pay the expenses (6 months) kkkkkk but hugely compensated, no regret.

Now appreciate the chance to expose myself here and to congratulate the competition open to all. I cannot afford to go and me staying in town for the BlackBerry Jam America and can’t imagine when would conditions to go the event if not via an opportunity these. I’m student and don’t have money to travel and participate for BlackBerry with my expenses. =[

Before this opportunity was thinking of going swimming to San Jose / California from Brazil, if arrive live beg for an entrance and sleeping on the street, is the only way I imagine getting going, I think it isn’t a good idea kkkkkk…

Good luck for all! we shall cross your fingers! \o/
