Wireless Data in Europe for as little as $5 a Day With Tep Wireless

If you’ve traveled to Europe and attempted to stay connected, you probably went through a lot of hassle. While unlocking your BlackBerry is not difficult you have to pay some exorbitant data fees even with a local SIM card.  Well, somebody’s tried to come up with a solution to your troubles and it sort of creative. Tep Wireless has announced a new portable 3G mobile hotspot with 1GB of data for $5 a day in 38 countries in europe. That is pretty impressive allowing you to connect multiple devices at a fraction of what US carriers would charge you for roaming.

If this sounds like something that you could use on your trip I highly recommend checking out Tep’s website for details. I know Ronen is looking into it for his trip to Italy next month.

Update: It looks like Tep Wireless has lowered their rates. The new rates are:

5 Days $49.95 ($9.99 per day) (Europe) – 500 MB of data
10 Days $85.00 ($8.50 per day) (Europe) – 1 GB of data
15 Days $99.99 ($6.67 per day) (Europe) – 1.5 GB of data
30 Days $150.00 ($5.00 per day) (Europe) – 3 GB of data

  1. Pretty terribly written article when you realize that $5.95 isn’t even a price available, if you look at the website that this article directs to http://www.tepwireless.com/wifi/europe $5.00 per day is the cheapest if you purchase 30 days.

I’m not sure where the numbers you came up with, but they don’t seem to exist on the website you direct to.
