easyDial Touchscreen Dialpad for the BlackBerry Bold 9900

I know this might sound a bit odd but I have actually had a couple people asking me for such an app so I thought it might be worth mentioning. With the touchscreen on the BlackBerry Bold 9900 and 9930 some users have wanted to be able to dial phone numbers using the touchscreen instead of the smaller keyboard buttons. I cannot fathom why you would want to do this but the people who asked were willing to pay for the pleasure.

If you were looking for such a solution you need look no further. easyDial will pop up a dialpad on your BlackBerry Bold 9900s screen for you to punch in numbers. You can find easyDial for $0.99 in App World.

  1. This should be a built-in option placed under Accessibility. This would be great for seniors and those with visual impairments.

  2. Totally agree with DigitalHomeBoy. Seems like something fairly easy to include in the OS.

As well, I haven’t used this app but I can see it being useful in 2 ways for those of us with regular eyesight (and 1 of them I’m not sure if this app will actually do):

    1) It allows you to easily dial numbers that were given to you with letters in them (Example: 1-800-TMOBILE) which otherwise requires you to dial 2 handed by holding the ALT key while hitting the letters.

    2) If it allows you to popup the number pad while you’re on a call it could be very, very useful if you call an office which has you input the letters of a person’s name in the Interactive Directory. Very similar reason to above, I know, but I still find it an extra pain while I’m already on a call to be doing this.

  3. It would be nice if this app were activated by pressing the talk button.

  4. Thank you Ronen for posting this application, I have installed it on my Bold 9900, and I love it!

I realize some (trolls) are leaving not the best feedback via App World, and only hope other potential buyers will buy it and see for themselves this is an awesome app.

Another poster said above if @RIM would make this part of a future OS (7.2) perhaps?

    Again, thank you Ronen!
