Lucky 4G BlackBerry PlayBook Owners Already Getting an OS Update

PlayBook OS update 4G

It has been a little over a month since RIM’s last PlayBook OS update and I have been itching for a new OS fix. We just learned from Stéphane @BB-Fr that some 4G BlackBerry PlayBooks are already getting OS So far they have not seen anything new in terms of functionality but they will report back if they do. Its nice to see that RIM is pushing out updates to the 4G PlayBooks as a sign that they are nearing release soon. Hopefully we get some OS update love for the regular PlayBook soon.

  1. HSPA or LTE???

  2. I have been very impressed with OS 2.1.x beta — it is very stable and I love the enhancements, especially with the Android runtime support. So it surprises me that the 4G PlayBook might be going out with 2.0.1.x.

I’m hoping we will see a full release of 2.1 on both the WiFi and 4G PlayBooks this month (July).

  3. Agree 100%. 2.1.x beta is a huge improvement. Playbook is fast and totally responsive. I did, however, do a security wipe then re-added my exchange email accounts, big difference. Very happy.

  4. The 4G PlayBook is supposed to support HSPA/HSPA+/LTE :) I’m personally happy to enable my mobile hotspot on my BlackBerry so my entire family can use with WiFi devices.

  5. Wait? There are 4G playbooks out in the wild?
