I was waiting a bit to see how this one panned out before mentioning the release of Desktop Manager v7.0 bundle 60. The last public release of 7.0 Bundle 44 was an unmitigated disaster with “preparing sync preview” issues abound when it came to synching PIM data. RIM fixed that with releases in the Beta Zone and even released a version of Desktop Manager 7.1 beta in the beta zone.
Still its nice to see the official Desktop Manager release fixed at v7.0. You can download it now directly from RIM or check out the change log PDF here. Sadly this version still does not bring PlayBook PIM desktop sync.

Hope they’ve finally eliminated the bugs.

I’ve downloaded this new version …. and backed up both my 9700 and my PB – no probs.
Yep – after the last PB OS upgrade I had trouble with DM recognising when I had my PB attached – it was a hit and miss thing whether or not it recognised it.

PB Forever you must have downloaded the beta DM – that’s 7.1 and been released a little while.
I’ve stuck to the official versions, but on reflection after the last PB OS update I think I should have installed the beta desktop mgr as well.

Hi Heavens: I’m not sure. My computer told me that I had an upgrade available back in March or so and it upgraded my OS7 on my phone to the most current version and at the same time then I think it upgraded my desktop too. I didn’t really realized it until I read the above article. I didn’t originally upgraded my DM when the other version came out after I heard all the issues it were having. I had a small one with syncing to my outlook back in February but I figured out my way around that one…
Not sure how I would’ve ended up with a beta version since I don’t normally download beta versions. I just upgrade because it tells me to.

Still a dissapointing software application. The inability to resize windows or sort on a field falls short of the user-centric design that the competiton delivers.

@ Charles, this is the desktop manager program that goes on your PC to connect and sync your info to your PB or BB phone… not sure what you mean about resizing windows???? or Sort Field?? What competition are you talking about? My DM lets me decide which info to keep if there are two different entries between my Outlook and my phone…
